UNT Honors, Remembers JFK

UNT is taking part in the following events that are open to the public in honor of the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's death.

The Mayborn School of Journalism is serving as a program partner for the symposium "Understanding Tragedy: The Impact of the JFK Assassination in Dallas" from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the South Side Ballroom, 1135 S. Lamar St. in Dallas. Speakers include writers Stephen Carter and Richard Rodriguez, Secret Service Director Julia Pierson and journalist Jim Lehrer. Students and faculty members of the UNT College of Music will perform "Music of the Kennedy White House," a repertoire of music performed at Presidential functions during that administration, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at City Performance Hall in Dallas. Sources will include the 1961 recital by cellist Pablo Casals, the1962 recital by opera singer Grace Bumbry and the 1962 Concert by jazz performers The Paul Winter Sextet.
