Micah James Brue

Micah James Brue, Amarillo. He was an incoming freshman planning to pursue a degree in music before losing a battle with leukemia. He performed in the Amarillo Boy Choir for five years as well, and played piano for the youth praise band at his church. He was the salutatorian of his high school.

Megan Katherine Labrum

Megan Katherine Labrum, Denton. She was a sophomore pursuing a degree in ecology and environmental studies. Prior to transferring to UNT, she attended Texas Tech University, majoring in horticulture. She had a deep love for animals, participating in FFA and even sporting a goat tattoo on her arm.

Sushma Pangulur

Sushma Pangulur, Irving. She was a graduate student and teaching assistant in computer science and engineering. She previously worked as a senior software engineer at GlobalEdge and a project engineer at Wipro Limited, both in her native India.

Anush Beeram

Anush Beeram, Plano. He was a Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science student and the president of the TAMS Medical Society with dreams of becoming a surgeon. He also was an undergraduate researcher in a plant biology lab and a math tutor. He enjoyed playing basketball, talking about politics and was an Eagle Scout. He was involved in the Docked Bhangra and Boy Scouts organizations. The Anush Reddy Beeram Memorial Scholarship Endowment has been set up in his name.

Shawn Lawrence

Shawn Lawrence, Azle. He was a senior studying mechanical engineering technology in the College of Engineering. He loved aviation and space and had earned a scholarship to UNT. He also was an active member of Pi Kappa Alpha.

Helen O. Etuk

Helen O. Etuk, Dallas. She was a senior in the College of Education and Honors College pursuing a degree in kinesiology. She loved children and had plans to be a pediatrician. She sang in her church choir and was part of her high school’s color guard. She loved reading, asking her mother for books instead of dolls as child.
