Joel Anthony Daboub
('01 M.B.A.), Denton, was named director of admissions and outreach for the UNT Health Science Center at Fort Worth. Previously he served as associate director of admissions at UNT's Denton campus.

Janet Folmar Mash ('92 M.S.), Austin, and her husband, John, welcomed a new daughter, Bonnie Marie Mash, in June. She joins big brother Luke, who was born in May 2002.

Patrick Spellman, Corinth, married Lori Rich on July 10. Patrick is a sales executive with Allied Vaughn, and Lori is a teacher in the Carrollton/Farmers Branch ISD.

Stephen Charles, Pendleton, Ind., joined Farm Bureau Insurance as manager of the help desk in the information systems division.

Bart Helsley, Fort Worth, is the head football coach at Keller Central High School. This fall was the program's first varsity football season. He previously served as offensive coordinator at Fossil Ridge and Marcus high schools and played football for North Texas from 1988 to 1990. He and his wife, Jennefer, have three sons.

Zaira E. Juárez, New York, N.Y., has joined Pfizer's intellectual property enforcement team in New York. She will provide support for the Latin America, Central America, U.S. and Caribbean regions and will have responsibility for coordinating IP litigation in Latin America. She received her J.D. degree from the State University of New York-Buffalo in 2000 and has an M.A. and Ph.D. in microbiology from the SUNY-Buffalo School of Medicine.

Judey Dozeto
, Austin, was hired as marketing coordinator for Capital Metropolitan Transit Authority, where she assists in the implementation of marketing, advertising and public relations programs and leads the graphics team. She is the former associate publisher for Texas Architect.

'93
Gary Baird Jr. ('93), Plano, married Peggy Evans in April. Gary is the owner of Baird Financial Group in Addison. Peggy is a freelance artist.

Romney Blackford ('95 M.S.), Shreveport, La., was promoted to vice president of workforce development and social services covering 26 parishes for North Louisiana Goodwill Industries. Her daughter, Savannah, 7, was a "Young Author" published in a statewide magazine in Louisiana.

Christy Alexander Brown, The Colony, and her husband, Kent, celebrated the birth of their first child, Marshall Dean, in March.

Shana Garrett, Farmers Branch, is the victim assistance and clinical case coordinator for the Women's Shelter in Arlington. She is completing a doctoral program in psychology.

Tom Kochevar, Eugene, Ore., works at KWVA-FM 88.1 in Eugene.

Kevin and Sunny Wells ('93), Waco, celebrated the birth of their first child, Sabrina Marie, in March. Kevin is owner and president of Wells Ag Co., a manufacturing company in Waco, and Sunny is an Advanced Placement history teacher at Midway High School in Hewitt. She earned her master's degree in history from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2002.

Jeff Crosby and Shelley Jackson ('94), New York, N.Y., were wed in October. They work together as children's book illustrators.

Rebecca Rogers (M.A., '97 Ph.D.), Martinez, Ga., was granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of clinical psychology at Augusta State University.

Philip Ferguson
, Las Vegas, Nev., has accepted a position with the Farmers Insurance Group as an assistant district manager in Las Vegas. He has also been awarded the Registered Financial Consultant designation and passed the NASD Series 26 exam.

Irish Hancock ('03), McKinney, works for the Texas Association of Regional Councils of Government as the emergency preparedness coordinator.

Erika Ann Knudsen-Devenney, Springtown, was promoted to marketing manager for American Health and Life Insurance Co. She received the President's Volunteer Service Award for her efforts in building Springtown's city park.

Norman Nieves ('98, '02 M.S.), Edmond, Okla., has accepted the position of assistant director of residence life at the University of Central Oklahoma. His wife, Christy Coffman Nieves ('98), accepted a position to teach English at Edmond Memorial High School.

Craig Pilo, Los Angeles, Calif., played drums for the films Basic and Dirty Dancing II and for television shows including The Osbornes, Las Vegas and Sex in the City. He has lived in Los Angeles for eight years and performed with Pat Boone, Maynard Ferguson, Player, Blue Magic, Malo, Dazz Band, Deniece Williams and Billy Vera.

Randall 'D.R.' Wilson (Ph.D.), Houston, has been promoted to professor of sociology at Houston Baptist University, where he has been a faculty member since 1996.

'97
Kerri Dane Mayes, Denton, gave birth to her second son, Evan James, in May. She says his older brother, Mark, is very excited about attending UNT together with Evan in about 18 years.

Thomas Sigerstad (M.B.A.), Frostburg, Md., received a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Oklahoma and teaches strategic management and business ethics at Frostburg State University.

Christina Schutz, Carrollton, teaches special education in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD and was chosen as the spring VIP from Riverchase Elementary. VIPs are chosen by the staff from their schools and are honored at school board meetings.

Giovanni Washington-Wright and his wife, Kimmy L.M. Robinson ('99), Carrollton, celebrated the birth of their daughter, Audrey Layne, in April. Giovanni is the owner of Jivepatrol Music Inc. in Carrollton.

Casey Weaver, Corinth, is the founder of the Oaks Ballet company and the Oaks School of Ballet in Lake Dallas. The school offers classes in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop and yoga.

Brian Zettler (M.S., '99 M.Ed.), Salt Lake City, Utah, has been named assistant athletic trainer and equipment manager for the Utah Jazz basketball team. Previously, he was the head athletic trainer for the Dallas Desperados of the Arena Football League and also assisted the training staffs of the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks.

Jennifer Garrison Brown
, St. Louis, Mo., is the band director at Washington Middle School in St. Louis. The band was selected as the 2004 Missouri Middle School Honor Band and performed at the Missouri Music Educators Conference. Her husband, Tony Brown ('92), band director at Mehlville High School, performed with the WMS band.

Jeff Coleman, Irving, earned a doctor of optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He is married to Allison Smith Coleman ('00).
