Enjoying its 10th bowl game in program history, the Mean Green football team lost to the Troy Trojans, 50-30 in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Dec. 16. The Mean Green continued to improve in year two of head coach Seth Littrell's tenure. The bowl game capped an excellent season in which the team posted a 9-5 record and captured the Conference USA West Division crown.
It was UNT's fifth trip to the New Orleans Bowl, but first since 2004 – a proud day for the Mean Green Nation. The Mean Green won four-straight Sun Belt Conference championships and played in the New Orleans Bowl from 2001 to 2004.
