Susan Joan Allen Blanco, Portland, Ore., was "most joyfully" married to Pedro Blanco on Dec. 17, 2004, in Brentwood, N.Y. After 17 years of service at Don Jagoda Associates, she retired in 2001 and has since kept busy as a tutor and an adult literacy volunteer in the mental health area.

Maureen Moore, Dallas, accepted a new position as vice president of labor and employment in the legal department of Blockbuster Inc. in Dallas.

Curtis W. Walker, Marietta, Ga., was named executive vice president and regional investment director in the southeast for Post Properties. He will oversee the company's development efforts in Florida, Atlanta, Ga., and Charlotte, N.C.

Paula Nichols-Cogdell, Montgomery, won the Grant for Teaching Excellence awarded by the Association of Texas Professional Educators. The grant is given in honor of Christa McAuliffe, the teacher who died in the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger explosion. Paula, a biology teacher at Magnolia High School, also was one of 25 people nationwide chosen to attend a Human Genome Institute at the University of Utah this summer. She'll share information about the project with teachers in her district.

Julie M. Whiting ('85 M.S.), Newton, Kan., earned a doctor of audiology degree in March from the Arizona School of Health Sciences. She practices at the Veterans Affairs North Texas Health Care System, an outpatient clinic in Fort Worth.

Kim Charlson (M.S.), Watertown, Mass., is director of the Braille and Talking Book Library at the Perkins School for the Blind. She was inducted into Massachusetts' Library Hall of Fame in 2004, and this year she received a Library Journal Movers & Shakers Award, given to outstanding librarians.

The Rev. Ellen Ely, Burnet, married Allen Wade Hibler on April 9 at the First United Methodist Church of Burnet, where she is pastor.

Kimberly Bell McClive-Reed, Albany, N.Y., completed her Ph.D. in social psychology at the University of Albany in May 2004 and is a research associate at the Institute of Gerontology there. She and Andrew Reed were married in October 2003 and are the proud parents of Jessie Catherine, born in September 2004.

Edward G. 'Ned' Moore (M.S.), Mechanicsville, Va., has been elected to the board of directors of the Foundation for Independent Higher Education. He is president of the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges.

Michael Hill ('99 M.Ed.), Irving, was re-elected to the Irving school board for a second term. He has been serving as a youth minister at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Irving for the last five years.
