Three professors in UNT's College of Engineering were recently named fellows in some of the globe's most prestigious science and engineering societies.
Thomas Scharf, a professor in UNT's Department of Materials Science and Engineering, was elected fellow of ASM International for significant contributions in materials tribology and surface engineering, pioneering work on solid lubricant materials and mechanisms, and distinguished service to the materials science community. Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering professor Sheldon Shi was named fellow by the International Society of Wood Science and Technology, an organization of wood scientists, engineers and other professionals concerned with raw materials used in the production of biofuels.
