David Russell

David Russell, Richardson. He worked for the city of Dallas from 1972 until 1978, followed by 23 years with the city of Garland, where he retired as a network engineer in 2005. He liked music, photography, gardening, restoring antique radios, astronomy, cooking and genealogy. Survivors include his wife, Deidre Hindman Russell (’71).

Perry Teague

Perry Owen Teague (’58, ’61 M.A.), Naperville, Ill. He earned his doctorate in immunology/immunopathology and biochemistry at the University of Oklahoma and taught and conducted research at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Fla., for 20 years. He entered the private laboratory business until he semi-retired, dabbling in real estate, and later worked at Trader Joe's in Naperville as “the wine guy.” He was an avid fan of music, especially big band and jazz. At North Texas, he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha.

Robert Thorson Jr.

Robert Thomas ‘Tommy’ Thorson Jr., Charlotte, N.C. He entered North Texas as a jazz guitar major and played in the Five O’Clock Band. Due to tendonitis, he changed majors and graduated with a degree in business. In Houston, he often played in local professional bands. His career included underwriting for Liberty Mutual Insurance and a number of entrepreneurial ventures.

Sherry Muir

Sherry Ann Switzer Muir, Sanger. After teaching elementary school in Sanger, she was an agency accountant and a certified insurance counselor for Muir Insurance Agency, the business she and her husband, Richard Muir (’68), built together from 1975 until 2007. She was the worship organist at First Baptist Church of Sanger for more than 30 years and played the piano for weekly worship services at the Care Inn of Sanger for more than 25 years. Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Thomas Muir (’93, ’93 M.S.) and Tresa McNeal (’96).

Frank Dunn

Frank Gerald Dunn, Schaumburg, Ill. He was a national bank examiner with the Comptroller of the Currency/U.S. Treasury Department for 35 years and later worked for NBD Bank in Chicago. He was an avid sports fan and a longtime contributor to the UNT Alumni Association. His son, Gregory Spencer Dunn, also attended UNT.

Brent Smith

Brent Lloyd Smith, Red Oak. He was a salesman for Ascension Capital Group, a Division I basketball referee and an inter-squad referee for the Dallas Mavericks. He also was the U.S. representative for Global Games Tournaments and enjoyed paintball competition. At UNT, he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity.

Bruce Crutchfield

Bruce Crutchfield (’95, ’97 M.P.A.), The Colony. He was a code inspector assigned to the code compliance section of the Dallas City Attorney’s Office. Prior to that, he had worked for several years for Countrywide Mortgage.

Otis Williams

Otis Ray Williams, Denison. He was an ROTC student who earned his bachelor’s degree in business at North Texas and was commissioned into the Air Force, where he served 20 years and attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. After retiring from the Air Force, he earned an M.B.A. and became director of human resources at Rusk State Hospital, a position he held until his retirement.
