D'Anne M. Cowden Barrow (M.M.Ed.), Russellville, Ark., was awarded a doctor of education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in December 2006. She has worked in the Russellville school district for 26 years, teaching elementary music and fourth grade and serving as an elementary school principal. She is director of elementary curriculum.

Craig W. Hurst (M.M.Ed., '94 Ph.D.), Waukesha, Wisc., was promoted to professor of music at the University of Wisconsin at Waukesha, where he has taught since 1993. He also is in his fourth year as chair of the music department for the 13-campus University of Wisconsin Colleges.

Nina Parks, Austin, was promoted to program supervisor II in the tax and labor law department of the Texas Workforce Commission. She has been a state employee for more than 25 years.

Martin Noto Jr. ('83 M.B.A.), Arlington, was promoted to executive vice president of Compass Bank in Fort Worth, which he joined in 2006. His father, Martin Noto Sr. ('90 M.Ed.), also is an alumnus.

Sara Rosales-Guerra, San Antonio, was hired at Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children as marketing director.

The Rev. C. Franklin Helt (M.S.), Wellsboro, Pa., retired after 40 years of service to the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. He served as local pastor and as executive director and administrator to retirement communities and nursing homes. He and his wife, Linda, their two daughters and their grandchildren live in Wellsboro.

Timothy Hutto (M.M.Ed.), New York, N.Y., was named the music director and principal conductor of the New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble, an orchestra in Manhattan's Upper East Side. He has been an assistant with the orchestra since he moved to New York in 1999.

Kelly Helton Sanderson, Smyrna, Ga., was named assistant vice president for finance and administration of Wood­ward Academy in Atlanta. The independent K-12 school has 2,870 students.

Val Quick Winkelman, Montgomery, Ala., was named interim head of the Department of Communication and Dramatic Arts at Auburn University at Montgomery.

Peter William Smith, Amelia Island, Fla., is president of Analytical & Information Services Inc., a firm specializing in hospitality and travel-related technology consulting practices. He is one of 204 individuals worldwide to achieve the designation of certified hospitality technology professional. During his 22 years in the industry, he has served as CIO, director and senior systems analyst at upscale resort organizations.

Gerald A. 'Jerry' Bruton, Commerce, was appointed to the newly created position of academic dean of science and math for the Greenville ISD. Previously, he served as principal of Greenville Intermediate School and Travis Elementary School. His responsibilities include developing math and science curriculum, serving as Advanced Placement coordinator and overseeing academic competitions. He also is assisting in the coaching of the newly created Academic Decathlon team for Greenville High School.

Janna Henley-McCollough ('94 M.Ed.), Fort Worth, has completed her third year as principal of Crossroads High School and Right Turn Discipline Center in the Burleson ISD. She also served in the Arlington ISD for 15 years, most of those as assistant principal of Turning Point High School. While at UNT, she was a resident assistant at Bruce and Kerr halls. She is married and has two boys.

Robert Boehler, Benbrook, graduated in August from Texas A&M University with a master of education in curriculum and instruction. He teaches science and is head swim coach at Aledo High School. He previously taught at Castleberry High School in Fort Worth, where he was head of the science department. His daughter, Lillian, completed an anesthesiology residency and is beginning a private practice in Dallas.
