Theo Creighton ‘Ted’ Willis (’69, ’74 M.P.A.), Lubbock :: His long career in public service began in the Texas governor’s office, working under Govs. Preston Smith and Dolph Briscoe, before going into city management in Grand Prairie, Longview, Pharr and Richardson. He served as executive director of the Texas Municipal League and then as president and CEO of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce — where he worked to develop The Ballpark in Arlington and witnessed Texas Ranger Nolan Ryan’s seventh no-hitter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
