James Allen Kirkeby (’67), Sioux Falls, S.D. :: After graduating high school, he was accepted into the U.S. Air Force Band in Texas as a trumpet player and played “Taps” for several military funerals. He directed the South Dakota State American Legion Band and he belonged to the El Riad Shrine as a member of its swing, concert, rock and big bands. He also operated North Cliff Iron and Brass Inc. in Sioux Falls. Aside from music, he enjoyed woodworking and restoring classic cars, including a Model A and 1956 Chevrolet.
