Helen Wilson Gardner (’58), Arlington :: She followed her brothers Howard Wilson (’52) and Marlin Wilson (’54) to North Texas, where she was active in the Baptist Student Union. She met her husband, David (’64 M.S.), while teaching in California. After they moved to Arlington, she taught third grade for 25 years before joining him in retirement in 1987. They traveled extensively in the U.S. and Canada and spent the last several summers on the Oregon coast. She was an avid quilter and helped contribute quilts to the Arlington Women's Haven, Mission Arlington and wounded warriors returning to Fort Sam Houston. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Arlington since 1961. David says that although Helen had multiple health issues, "they never dampened her determination, encouraging and loving spirit, smile and zest for life and fun."
