G. Harvey (’56), Austin :: He was known for his Western paintings and sculptures that are placed all over Texas buildings, including the Texas State Capitol, and were owned by President Lyndon B. Johnson and Texas Gov. John Connally. An industrial arts teacher, he began painting after his wife bought him tubes of paint for his birthday. He then took classes and participated in small art shows before his impressionistic works gained national attention, including a rare solo exhibition at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
