Ed Henry Stewart (’53, ’57 M.Ed.), Jacksboro :: He had a career as a teacher and also owned and operated Ed’s Clothes Shop in Jacksboro. After retiring, he assisted in managing the Stewart Family Ranch, his family’s property. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge and active on the library and cemetery boards in Jacksboro. He was a supporter of UNT athletics — holding season football tickets for more than 40 years — and a member of the Mean Green Club. When he attended North Texas, he was a charter member of Sigma Nu and adopted and cared for a live eagle. He became known as “Scrappy Ed” throughout the campus. He also drove an antique Model T Ford — painted green and white with the eagle mascot painted on both doors — while on campus.
