Bob Welch (’62), Dallas :: As a reporter and cameraman for WBAP-TV (now KXAS), he captured two historic moments of the 1960s — the aftermath of the shootings of Army Maj. Gen. Edwin Walker and President John F. Kennedy, both by Lee Harvey Oswald. From 1967 to 1969, he worked for NBC News, covering the Vietnam War and its protests. He then returned to WBAP and headed the Dallas news bureau until his retirement in 1995. He served in the Korean War with the U.S. Marines.
