UNT’s fall 2009 enrollment increased by 1,508 students (4.3 percent) as compared to last fall, meaning 36,206 students are now pursuing degrees at Texas’ fourth largest university. This enrollment includes an 11 percent increase in graduate students, important to the university’s continued development as a national research university. The enrollment also includes important growth in retention and continued growth in the numbers of Hispanic, African American and Asian students.
The growth at the graduate level means that 7,658 students are pursuing graduate level education at UNT. This includes a 10.3 percent increase in master's degree program students and a 5.1 percent increase in doctoral level students.
This fall’s enrollment growth is the largest increase in seven years and marks the ninth consecutive year of record-breaking enrollment. UNT enrollment figures continue to include students at the UNT Dallas campus. Separate counts aren't expected to be known until after the 20th class day at the earliest. Until the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board verifies enrollment numbers and makes them official later in the fall, all enrollment statistics are unofficial, 12th class day numbers.
