Joe Preston Haynes (’51, ’56 M.A.), Tyler, He enjoyed a longtime career in the aerospace industry working for LTV and at Langley Air Force Base before eventually retiring from Lockheed at NASA in Houston. He was active in his church and in the Masonic and Eastern Star organizations and as a volunteer for the National Shriner’s Hospital. He and his late wife, Esther (’53), also sang the national anthem at numerous Houston Astros games, and he played trumpet for the Dallas Texans marching band. He was a lifetime member of the UNT Alumni Association. He is preceded in death by his mother, Louise Preston Haynes (’24).
