William "Bill" Lee Turner Sr. (’49), Hemphill :: His college career was interrupted in 1945 as he began serving in the U.S. Army. He later resumed his studies and earned a degree in education and journalism from North Texas. He worked in the insurance industry in various areas, including sales training, claims, customer service, safety and management, for more than 30 years. In 1977, he received the prestigious Loyalty Award from the Insurance Company Education Directors Society, and he retired from Employers Insurance of Texas in 1982. He also served as mayor of Corinth.
