Emory Estes (’56 M.A.), Burleson :: He was a Professor Emeritus at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he taught for 51 years, including 12 years as chair of the English department. He also had taught at the University of Malaysia and the University of London. He headed the UTA athletic department for four years and served as Southland Conference president. He was a decorated veteran of World War II, serving in intelligence under Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
