Through UNT's Center for Information and Computer Security, interdisciplinary programs and research from business, criminal justice and engineering focus on network security and human behavior in relation to cybersecurity. Ram Dantu, professor of computer science and engineering and director of the center, is among UNT faculty leading innovative research in how organizations can effectively and safely store information and develop policies to help avoid cyberattacks and human errors.
In January, the center's facilities will expand to UNT's New College at Frisco, an off-site instructional facility, and will include a new forensic laboratory in which students can build their skills.
The lab also will provide training for criminal justice and other agency practitioners who work in the area of digital forensics, as well as provide digital forensic services to local and county law enforcement agencies throughout the U.S. And in fall 2016, the center will offer undergraduate and graduate courses in cybersecurity and forensics taught by Dantu and Eric Fritsch, chair and professor of criminal justice.
