Stacy Croushorn, Mineral Wells, wrote the book Camp Wolters: Mineral Wells & World War II about the military training center that also held German POWs and pumped millions of dollars into the local economy. It was her thesis for her master’s degree in history from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is the third of five family members that have graduated from North Texas. “My favorite campus memory is seeing the white squirrels on campus. It only happened twice, but each time it did I felt especially blessed.”
