Marta Plata, Fort Worth :: was named the 2011 Woman of Distinction by Altrusa International Inc. Marta (pictured with her husband, Jesse) has served as principal of Manuel Jara Elementary School for five of her 17 years with the Fort Worth ISD. In addition to leading the school’s instructional program, she has developed activities involving faculty, staff and community members to motivate and inspire her students, resulting in improved test scores, especially among the boys.
