Kelly Webb Ferebee (M.Ed., ’01 Ph.D.), Irving :: received the Nancy Guillory Award for contributions to the field of play therapy from the Texas Association for Play Therapy last year. She sang her own compositions at a popular Houston restaurant in the late ’70s and later began a 10-year quest for a counseling doctorate. For her dissertation, she co-founded and implemented a weekend grief camp for families who have lost a child, and she serves in various roles with Camp Fire USA’s El Tesoro de la Vida’s grief camp. She works in private practice at her Coppell office, The Sandbox. She also is releasing her first children’s CD/songbook this summer, still sings benefit concerts and is a member of ASCAP. Her father, Cloys Webb (’51, ’58 M.M.Ed.), became an award-winning high school and university choral director after first earning a business degree. Before his death in 2007, he directed a chorus of retirees in Wimberley. Her mother, Bettye Dutton Webb (’50), a former Terrill Hall resident and journalism major, now lives in New Braunfels.
