Kathleen ‘Kat’ McGill Hodges, Rowlett :: is the art specialist at Walnut Glen Academy, an elementary magnet school for gifted and talented students in Garland. She was awarded one of 11 2008-09 Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities Awards by Humanities Texas, the state affiliate for the National Endowment for the Humanities. The awards are presented annually to exemplary teachers of history, literature, foreign languages, government, social studies and the arts in the state’s elementary, middle and high schools. U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson and Michael Gillette, director for Humanities Texas, presented Kathleen with her award in November.
