Joren Cain (M.M., ’10 D.M.A.), Valdosta, Ga. :: who was a student of Jim Riggs at UNT, was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor of music at Valdosta State University. He teaches the saxophone studio, directs the New Jazz Ensemble and teaches courses in the jazz area. His new CD of music for saxophone, Voices of Dissent (MSR Classics), contains several world premiere recordings, including two pieces composed for him. He is joined by his wife, Sarah Turley Cain (’04 D.M.A.), who was a student of James Gillespie, on clarinet, and Maila Gutierrez Springfield on piano.
