John Bennett (M.A.), Amarillo :: earned a Ph.D. from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom, his seventh university degree. His doctoral thesis was on the history of renting pews in Anglican churches from 1800 to 1960. He practices law in Amarillo, representing indigent appellants in criminal cases. He recently won a new trial for the defendant in the case Coronado v. State and says, on the basis of his appeal, the Texas statute permitting cross-examination of children by written interrogatories was declared unconstitutional.
