James Popejoy (D.M.A.), Grand Forks, N.D. :: was promoted to professor of music at the University of North Dakota, where he serves as director of bands. He received a 2009 “North Dakota Spirit Faculty Achievement Award” from UND and was awarded the “Citation of Excellence” by the National Band Association in 2010. He presented a session on the music of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Joseph Schwantner at the 2010 College Band Directors National Association North Central Division conference, where he also conducted a performance by the UND Faculty Chamber Players. At UNT, he was a student of Eugene Migliaro Corporon.
