'13James Bailey Blackshear (Ph.D.), Mesquite, co-authored his third book, Confederates and Comancheros: Skullduggery and Double-Dealing in the Texas-New Mexico Borderlands. This book takes readers on a journey back to the 1860s and 1870s and gives an inside look on what drew both Texas cattlemen and Comancheros to the border between Texas and New Mexico. Blackshear also is the author of Honor and Defiance: A History of the Las Vegas Land Grant in New Mexico and Fort Bascom: Soldiers, Comancheros, and Indians in the Canadian River Valley.
