Hank Hehmsoth ('78), San Marcos :: will serve as a 2019 Morroe Berger-Carter-Berger Jazz Research Fellow by the Institute of Jazz Studies, the world’s foremost jazz archive and research facility, at Rutgers University. Hank is an associate professor at the Texas State University School of Music and is currently working on a 2019 National Endowment for the Arts ArtWorks grant. He has previously received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program grant and a Fulbright Specialist Program grant, leading him to conduct master classes on American jazz performance and theory. He also has won a New Music USA grant in music composition and was named a MacDowell Colony Norton Stevens Fellow for his work with the world community of artists. He conducted doctoral work at North Texas from 1976 to 1978.
