Christy Coffman-Nieves, Edmond, Oklahoma, is leaving the high school classroom after 23 years, where she has taught senior English and advised the school paper. She was named her school's Teacher of the Year in 2019 and was Oklahoma's Newspaper Advisor of the Year in 2009, 2016 and 2019. In May 2023, she graduated with honors with her master's degree in educational leadership from the University of Central Oklahoma and will serve as assistant principal at another high school in the Edmond Public Schools district. She has been married for 24 years to fellow alum Norman Nieves (’95, ’98, ’02 M.S.) and they have two children.
