’64 *Don Hufstedler (’65 M.Ed.), and *Kathy Hufstedler (’66), Azle, have announced their retirement after 40 years in education. For the last 33 years Kathy has been the head of the career and technology department at Azle High School. During that same time, Don has been principal at Azle Junior High School. They say they plan to travel and spoil their grandson in their retirement.
’67 G. Pritchy Smith (M.Ed., ’69 Ed.D.), Neptune Beach, Fla., professor of curriculum and instruction at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, has been named the William Allen Endowed Chair and Distinguished Professor of Education at Seattle University for 2006-07. One of the founders and a past vice president of the National Association for Multicultural Education, he teaches courses in sociology of education and multicultural education and coordinates UNF’s master of education program in Belize.
’68 Don Campbell, Boulder, Colo., received the Signature Sinfonian award from Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia in July at its annual convention in Ohio. The award recognizes fraternity alumni members who have achieved excellence in their field or profession. Campbell is the author of The Mozart Effect, a 1997 bestseller about the influence of music on learning and healing.
