Peter Fleury, Rocky Point, N.Y., retired from teaching in 2001 after 31 years of service. He is working part-time at the Long Island Science Center, which elementary students visit on field trips. Both of his children are getting married this year.

A. John Muller (M.A.), Cisco, was named president of Cisco Junior College last fall. He began his career at the college in 1974 teaching government and history part-time and later became a full-time instructor and administrator. He also served on the Cisco City Council for 15 years.

Mike Neeley, Odessa, worked as an adult probation officer for 24 years after coaching and teaching at Permian High School. He retired for six months in 1998 and then became director of the Odessa YMCA. He attended North Texas on a track scholarship and says many things he learned in and out of the classroom have served him well since 1970.

Judith Srygley ('91 M.S.), Forney, recently celebrated her 11th anniversary as the librarian at Dallas Baptist University. She is in charge of acquisitions, technical services and the automated library systems.

Lillian Faulkner Baggett, Dacula, Ga., retired as a professor in the English department at Union University in 1998. She is married to James Alex Baggett ('72 Ph.D.). (See Bookshelf.)

Louis Pol ('73 M.A.), Omaha, Neb., has been named interim dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. A professor of marketing, he joined the faculty in 1984 and has served as associate dean of the college for three years.

George B. Foster, Lafayette, La., president of Foster Marketing Communications, is the recipient of the 2003 Silver Medal Award from the Acadiana Advertising Federation. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to advertising industry standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern.

Avelino F. Segura ('81 M.F.A.), Dallas, has been appointed chief executive officer of the Dallas Historical Society. He has 23 years of experience as an exhibit curator, including 14 years as the director of exhibits for the Museum of Natural History.

Karen Bower-Robinson, Dallas, is a program specialist with Dallas ArtsPartners, an organization that provides arts-in-education programming and trains teachers to incorporate arts and cultural experiences into their classroom curriculum.

Karen Jaggers (M.L.S.), Thatcher, Ariz., is a reference librarian at Northern Arizona University. She provides services to NAU distance students and faculty and provides some reference services for Eastern Arizona College students.

Dennis Murphy ('75 M.P.A.), Albuquerque, N.M., is a retired special agent with the FBI. He has worked with the Terrorism Investigations Course for the U.S. Department of State Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program.

Joe Barrera Jr. ('76 M.M.), Glendale, Calif., composed music for the television feature Fatal Kiss on Cinemax and for the TV documentary The Red Crusade, which will air on PBS in October.

Victoria Colonnese-Hager, Garland, is appearing on Talk Radio 1080 on the Ask Andrea Show. She gives tips on shops that carry interior decorating and home improvement items and gives advice on how to undertake various projects to listeners who call or e-mail the show.

Thomas Brenner, Chicago, Ill., works for the Department of Gerontology at Illinois State University.

Terry Fansler ('75 M.M., '82 Ph.D.), Fort Worth, joined Dallas Baptist University as an assistant professor of music.

Kevin Johnson, Houston, has been promoted to vice president of finance and principal accounting officer of Boots and Coots International Well Control Inc. He was previously the controller.

Nathan Margolis, Houston, is the assistant vice president for AIG Global Investment Corp. He has been in Houston since 1982.

Danny L. Dunn (Ph.D.), Joshua, has been named vice president of R&D analytical chemistry at Alcon Labs. He joined the company as a senior scientist in 1978.

Lisa Cooper Hudson ('78 M.S.), McGregor, who teaches math at McGregor Junior High School, was honored in February as the Outstanding Citizen of McGregor for her school, church and community work. She and her husband, John, have two children, Karen and Alan.

Sparky Koerner (M.M.Ed.), Texas City, is a professor of music at the College of the Mainland in Texas City. He performs with his group, Sparky's Jazz Express, and the Galveston Symphony Orchestra. An April concert by his ensemble featured trumpeter Marvin Stamm ('61) as guest artist. Koerner also judged jazz festivals in Sugarland, Brenham and Fort Worth this spring.

Kathy Hoppe Bynum, Sand Springs, Okla., teaches graduate counseling courses at Oral Roberts University and maintains a private marriage and family therapy practice. She earned her doctor of ministry degree in May.

Guy Greening, Flower Mound, is coaching varsity soccer at Flower Mound High School. He is only the second Texas high school soccer coach to win 400 games in his coaching career. His record this April stood at 412-91-31.

Gary L. Schepf ('85 M.Ed.), Irving, was named the 2003 Secondary Teacher of the Year by the National Business Education Association. He has been a business and computer science instructor for the past 25 years in the Irving ISD.

Ronnell B. Townsend (M.S.), Independence, Mo., has worked as a volunteer with autistic children, paraplegics and seniors. He has published articles in Linn's Stamp News and the American Philatelist and is taking graduate courses in library science. He is also a regular blood donor — over the past 24 years he has donated approximately 108 pints of whole blood.
