Lisa DeSpain, New York, N.Y., has been commissioned for a new ballet by the Buglisi/Foreman Dance Co. featuring the New York Choral Society. This is the third collaboration for composer DeSpain and choreographer Donlin Foreman and the final installment in their "jazz triptych."

Kyle Reynolds, Cypress, was promoted to database marketing manager for the Houston Chronicle, where he has been employed for five years. He worked for NationsBank/Bank of America in Dallas for 10 years. He and his wife have three children.

Charlie Walter (M.B.A), Fort Worth, interim director at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, has been elected to the board of directors of the Association of Children's Museums for a two-year term through May 2005.

Jackquice Smith-Mahdi ('99 M.S.), Fort Worth, has joined Washburn University in Topeka, Kan., as assistant professor of criminal justice. She previously served as a teaching fellow at Oklahoma State University.

Eric R. Carter, Arlington, is the new emergency management coordinator for the city of Arlington. He had been the assistant coordinator for the Lower Colorado River Authority in Austin since 2000.

Kelly A. Woestman (Ph.D.), Pittsburg, Kan., is history education director at Pittsburg State University. A Teaching American History grant proposal she wrote is being funded by the U.S. Department of Education for more than $750,000. The grant will allow middle school and high school teachers in southeast Kansas to earn master's degrees through summer workshops and online classes taught by PSU faculty and nationally known historians.

Jill E. Pries Baros, Houston, and her husband, Paul, welcomed their first child, Kate Elizabeth, in July.

Charles M. Boykin (M.S., '03 Ph.D.), Salisbury, Md., is a new assistant professor of mathematics for the Penn State University DuBois campus. He formerly was a mathematics teaching fellow at UNT and an adjunct professor at TWU. He recently defended his doctoral dissertation, "The Study of Translation Equivalence on Integer Lattices."

Craig V. Hamilton (Ph.D.), Arkadelphia, Ark., was honored with the Lena Goodwin Trimble Professor of Music endowed chair at Ouachita Baptist University. He is the director of bands and chair of music education at OBU.

Brian Neu, McKinney, a certified financial planner, is the president and co-founder of Olimpio Neu & Associates Inc., a registered investment advisory firm based in Dallas.

D'Arla Glenn Tyler, Ponder, and her husband, Brandon, welcomed their first child, Ainsley Grace, in March 2003. They celebrated five years of marriage in June.

Cristin Herr, Fort Worth, married Sebastiano Leoni on June 14, 2003, in Cavelese, Italy, in the Dolomites. Family and friends from the United States, France, Norway, Australia and many parts of Italy attended. Cristin is the owner of Studio C Dance in Burleson. Sebastiano is a senior product manager at Alcon Labs.

Monica White DeGrate and Eric DeGrate ('99), DeSoto, and their daughter, Brieana, welcomed a new addition, Xavier Conal DeGrate, to their family in November 2002.

R. Carolyn McAdams, Valley View, who earned her UNT degree in drawing and painting, is now being exclusively represented by the Craighead Green Gallery in Dallas.

Kevin T. Starbuck, Amarillo, is a project specialist for Pantex Plant Emergency Management.

Silvia Alvarez, Fort Worth, has been named associate circulation director for Health magazine, published by Southern Progress Corp. based in Birmingham, Ala.

Christopher Moore and Kimberly Duncan ('98), Dallas, were married Oct. 4 at the Southfork Hotel in Plano. Kimberly works in human resources at Ericsson and is a part-time private flute teacher. Christopher works for Metro PCS and is also working on independent musical and narrative film projects.

Shameom Jones, Dallas, was named a First Class Teacher of the Week by Minyard Food Stores Inc. in October. She has taught for six years, including four years at the Jimmie Tyler Brashear Early Development Center in Dallas.

Jessica McCambly, Round Rock, has launched a jewelry line titled "Jessica McCambly — Organic Sculpture for the Body." The collection, at Matthew Trent and Iota in Dallas, blends traditional metalsmithing with untraditional found objects and semi-precious stones.

R. Scott Milligan, Denton, appeared in Risk Theater Initiative's 2003-04 production of Waiting for Godot in the role of Estragon. His former credits include the title role in The Nerd at the North Texas Theatre.

Jason Walker, Arlington, and Chris Sharp ('99), Fort Worth, collaborated to write and score a full-length stage musical, A New Muse, and won the John Howard Griffith Award in Mansfield's 2003 Main Street Theatre Playwriting Festival. The show was produced at the Main Street Theatre in October, directed by Walker.

John Paul (M.S.), Tecumseh, Okla., was named a lecturer in sociology and anthropology at Washburn University in Topeka, Kan. He was formerly at Oklahoma State University.

Mark Robnett and April Zalasar ('01), Fort Worth, were married in July 2003. Both are graduates of the College of Music. April is a band director and Mark is a music repairman for Brook Mays Music in Irving.
