in Albuquerque in September with a time of 4 hours, 56 minutes,
30 seconds.

Mike Cochran,
Fort Worth, is retiring after
a career spanning more than four decades with the Associated
Press and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Among many awards, he
received the Texas Institute of Letters' Stanley Walker
Award for journalism
in 1987 and 1991 and the Associated Press Managing Editors Award
for best feature writing in 1987.
