James Marshall Boswell (’60, ’66 M.Ed., ’75 Ed.D.), 88, a lifelong educator, died Dec. 3, 2025, in Fort Worth.

He taught geography and math at the high school and university levels in both Texas and Oklahoma. To students at Denton High, James was known as “Dr. Boz,” and he taught each of his children algebra and geometry. Students who finished their work early had the opportunity to play chess. Those who were more rambunctious earned a seat of honor in the less-than-coveted front row, characteristic of his firm-but-fair teaching style.

Outside the classroom, James enjoyed swimming, biking and gardening. He was preceded in death by his son, Stanley Boswell (’88). In addition to his wife, Mary, survivors include his son, Brent Boswell (’92), and daughter, Alicia Knapp (’94).
