Edward Earl Lane (’50), Denton. After returning from Navy service in World War II, he enrolled at North Texas, where he met his late wife, Mary Jane Nichols Lane (’48). He owned and operated Lane’s Ice Cream Shop on Congress Street in Denton from 1948 until 1973 and later worked for the Denton ISD before retiring to his farm in Sanger. His four children also are graduates of UNT: Eddie Lane (’73, ’75 M.Ed.), Rodney Lane (’77), Jane Naugher (’78, ’81 M.Ed.) and Dwane Lane (’80, ’81).
