Freddie Jones ('83) is often heard playing the trumpet during the national anthem at the Dallas Cowboys' home games and in venues around the world.
And the Carrollton-based musician makes sure others get to play the instrument. In 2007, he founded the organization Trumpets4Kids, which has donated at least 15 trumpets a year to students and invites them to concerts to hear trumpeters. In return, the students promise to practice one hour a day.
Those students might develop the same affection for the instrument that he has.
"I am a trumpet player because it's what I find is my soul mate," he says.
