Composer Jake Heggie, renowned for his nationally acclaimed opera Moby-Dick, returned to campus in February for a series of concerts, lectures and other events.

Serving as the artist-in-residence for UNT’s Institute for the Advancement of the Arts, he visited for the first part of his residency in the fall.

The February events included concerts featuring his works, a panel discussion and opera workshop master class.

In addition to coaching students, performing and lecturing, Heggie continued work on a commission from UNT to compose a major work for orchestra, chorus and soloist to further explore his interest in Moby-Dick.
