UNT’s new high-performance computing facility will be among the premier facilities of its kind in the country and the largest in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.
Set to be in use this fall, the $2.2 million centralized high-powered facility, purchased from Dell, will provide a tenfold increase in the university’s computational power, says Vish Prasad, vice president for research and economic development. That will give UNT scientists and researchers the tools they need to perform large scale simulations and continue their research in fields ranging from energy and environment to aerospace and web archiving.
“This is a huge step forward for the university,” Prasad says. “This facility will position UNT to compete for the biggest and most competitive grants.”
