As the sun shone down on Saturday afternoon, the Mean Green Village bustled with loyal Mean Green supporters. For some, like Betty Milligan, 2009 marked their first trip to the village. Milligan helped her husband, Scott (’98), who works in UNT’s purchasing and payment services office, staff the Scrappy Bean Bag Toss at the Staff Council tent.
Others, like Robert Griswold (’68, ’71 M.Ed.), have been attending Homecoming festivities for decades. Griswold was a tight end for the Mean Green in the late ’60s and also was a member of the Geezles fraternity. He and his wife, Judy Holder Griswold (’68), who was a cheerleader for the Mean Green, visit the Lettermen’s tent every year. This year, they also participated in the first Geezles reunion in more than 30 years.
Other gatherings at the village included College of Education alumni honoring 2009 Teachers of the Year, journalism alums marking their department’s transition to the new Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism, and KNTU alums celebrating the student radio station’s 40th year with a live broadcast.
