McNair scholar wins $150,000 national arts scholarship

While studying at UNT, Jon Savage ( '13) — a double major in English and history and double minor in French and Russian — stood out as a McNair Scholar and member of UNT's Honors College. Now he's earning recognition for being one of 20 students in the nation to receive the 2013 Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Award, which provides $150,000 to students or recent alumni with artistic promise and financial need to earn a graduate degree in the arts or creative writing.

Savage will apply to graduate programs and begin his fellowship next year.
