HSC Recognition

Health Science CenterI was initially thrilled to see you reporting on medical issues of UNT alumni (winter 2011) until I read the article. You barely mentioned that one of the UNT alumni featured in the story also graduated from the UNT Health Science Center/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.

When I get publications from the Health Science Center, they occasionally mention UNT professors or programs. But there’s nothing on the Health Science Center from The North Texan.

I transferred to North Texas in 1978 from the University of Texas at San Antonio because I wanted to attend the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. It grew into the Health Science Center and charted its own course, but I believe UNT needs to recognize it in the alumni publications.

I am a proud graduate of both!

Editor’s note: Although the University of North Texas is our primary focus in The North Texan, we are proud of the accomplishments of UNT Health Science Center graduates, too, and of our shared history. Thank you for the reminder. The websites of UNT System institutions also are good sources for the latest news. Visit the Health Science Center and UNT Dallas.
