I was very saddened to read of the passing of Dr. Robert Hardin (winter 2010).

I first encountered him while taking a summer French course, and he highly encouraged me to apply for a teaching fellowship in French. Later, after I received my master’s in French, he was instrumental in my gaining a teaching job in a local high school.

In addition to his knowledge of 18th and 20th century French literature, I will remember Dr. Hardin as a very refined gentleman always.
