From a vividly colored cocktail dress influenced by the paintings of Frida Kahlo to a fashion collection inspired by insects, the annual ArtWear runway show at UNT featured the imaginative creations of budding fashion designers. The event highlighted the best garments from about 30 seniors in the fashion design program.
ArtWear designers have gone on to work for companies such as Calvin Klein, Liz Claiborne, Fossil, Theory and Betsey Johnson. Among this year’s ArtWear judges were master’s candidate Donna Sapp of the Art Institute of Dallas and fashion alums Gretchen Bell (’01) of Dolly Python and Justin Ghirardi of Carolina Herrera.
