Our campus welcomed thousands of new and returning students this fall, and a month
into the semester, that early energy has settled into a rhythm -- students in classrooms
and labs, joining clubs, and building the connections that will carry them through
their time at UNT and into their careers. We remain committed to helping every Eagle
turn this year's experiences into meaningful opportunity. That commitment extends
well beyond our campuses. UNT sits at the heart of one of the fastest-growing regions
in the country, and employers, civic leaders, and community partners are counting
on us to deliver the talent, research, and innovation that will keep North Texas moving
forward.
This fall, students are exploring three new degree programs -- a bachelor's in artificial intelligence, a master's in project management, and a Ph.D. in data science -- designed to prepare graduates with skills and knowledge employers need most. UNT was also selected to join the inaugural Innovation Sandbox cohort of the Future Universities Alliance, a global network of institutions organized by Duke University to reimagine higher education. This is a great opportunity for us to learn from innovators around the world while sharing UNT's own bold approach. Our Texas Talent Accelerator continues to bring industry, education, and workforce leaders together to align what we teach with what our region's fastest-growing sectors, such as healthcare and semiconductor manufacturing, need.
These efforts reflect the same priorities that have guided UNT through a challenging budget year: discipline, creativity, and an unwavering focus on our students. Thanks to the hard work of our entire UNT community, we closed the year in far stronger financial shape than projected, while still investing in the partnerships and programs that create real opportunities for our students and our region. We're building a more resilient UNT -- one built to withstand headwinds and grow stronger because of them.
That resilience is paying off in the value of a UNT degree. This year, UNT became one of the first universities in the nation accredited by the Postsecondary Commission, a new national accreditor that evaluates institutions based on the economic outcomes their graduates achieve. Reviewers specifically praised the time to value framework at the center of our Look North: UNT 2030 strategic plan, calling it a potential model for universities nationwide. It's proof of what we've long believed: a UNT degree isn't just a credential. It's a launchpad, and its value continues to grow with every step we take toward our vision. None of this happens without you. Our alumni continue to open doors, share expertise, and champion this university, and that support matters now more than ever. As UNT's state and national visibility continue to grow. I'm grateful for your partnership in helping us unlock the potential of our students, staff, faculty, and alumni across Texas and beyond. Go Mean Green!
