How does the brain react to Google, Facebook and other technologies that have emerged in recent years? Thomas D. Parsons, professor of learning technologies, explores the question in Cyberpsychology and the Brain: The Interaction of Neuroscience and Affective Computing (Cambridge University Press). A clinical neuropsychologist, he wrote the book to help students and researchers understand technology's impact.
"Brain-based approaches to cyberpsychology study both the way people make use of devices and the neurocognitive processes, motivations, intentions, behavioral outcomes, and effects of online and offline uses of technology," says Parsons, director of UNT's NetDragon Digital Research Centre and the Computational Neuropsychology and Simulation Laboratory.
