UNT Regents Professor Stephen Jackson was recently accepted as a fellow by the American Mathematical Society. The designation recognizes members who have made outstanding contributions "to the creation, exposition, advancement, communication and utilization of mathematics." Jackson's work with definable set theory is one of the reasons he was honored. In August, he shared his findings on the theory at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Rio de Janeiro. He is the first UNT mathematics professor to be recognized as a fellow by the society.
