The American Political Science Association presented the Frank J. Goodnow Award to John Ishiyama, University Distinguished Research Professor of political science. The highest career award for service to the discipline, it honors service to the community of teachers, researchers and public servants who work in the political science field.
During his career, Ishiyama has published eight books and more than 150 journal articles and book chapters. He also has served on the APSA board and various committees. He is passionate about promoting undergraduate research, particularly for students from under-represented groups and first-generation college and low-income students.
