Rodrigo Villanueva

Rodrigo Villanueva (’03 M.M.), Janesville, Wisc. was promoted to associate  professor of music at Northern Illinois University, where he teaches jazz arranging and jazz drum set and directs the NIU Jazz Lab Band. In 2010 and 2008 the band won first place at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Festival. Rodrigo’s drumming can be heard on the Eddie Gomez Trio album Live in Mexico City, which was released in November. At UNT, Rodrigo was a student of Ed Soph (’68).
