Prabhakar Joshi

Prabhakar G. Joshi (M.A.), Libertyville, Ill. received the 2017 BMM (Brihan Maharashtra Mandal) award for community service during the BMM annual convention, which is an umbrella organization of all Marathi organizations across North America. He was recognized for various community service activities. He co-organized and co-founded the Hindu Center in Charlotte, N.C., and the Hindu Temple and Cultural Center in Columbia, S.C. He also has taught Vedic studies; advised students who established a Hindu Student Council at the Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa; and lectured numerous times during festivals and temples. Joshi is the recipient of several awards from his employers and in sports, and he also received the Hind Rattan award, which is given to Indians living abroad by the Indian government and the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Welfare Society.
