Paula Gudmundson (M.M.), Minneapolis, Minn. received a Minnesota State Arts Board Community Partnership Grant for 2013-14 to record her first full-length CD, ¡Viva La Flauta! featuring works of Latin America for flute. She previously received an Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, traveling to Buenos Aires, Argentina, in search of neglected early 20th century music. She presented programs throughout Minnesota and the Midwest featuring solo and collaborative works from Argentina. She also was appointed to a tenure track position as assistant professor of music at the University of Minnesota Duluth in fall 2014. She released her first CD, La Flauta of Buenos Aires, in January 2014. Her edition of Amancio Alcorta’s Gran Fantasía, published by Jeanné Music, earned an honorable mention at the 2014 National Flute Association’s Newly Published Music Competition. She was a guest artist at the International Flute Festival in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, in fall 2014. At UNT, she studied under Terri Sundberg.
